Gamekeeping minutes – At the ‘lochan’

By Sporting, Teasses Estate, Visits

Our Gamekeeping Team have been busy replenishing our ‘lochan’ with trout, to provide sporting opportunities for our fishing syndicate and occasional day rods. Our beautiful trout is sourced from Belhaven Trout Company  and has been keeping our fishermen happy year or year. In the video below you can appreciate the water clarity of our ‘lochan’ and catch a glimpse of our wonderful views and wildlife.

You will see Jordan slowly and gently releasing the trout into the ‘lochan’ to limit the shock the fish might experience when changing environment, water temperature and PH levels. This is very important at Teasses.

Kenny, our Head Gamekeeper, also brings you some footage of our resident toad population. After emerging from their overwintering sites, toads tend to return to ancestral breeding ponds along the same routes each year – they have definitely come out in large numbers this Spring.

Our fishing season at Teasses runs from February to October and the longer and sunny Spring days offer a great opportunity to head out on the ‘lochan’. For more information on our fishing syndicate and day rods, please get in touch at [email protected]. The ‘lochan’ is in view of Hall Teasses, our self-catering lodge – a perfect combination if you are looking for a sporting staycation.

Garden Diary 2021

By Garden, Uncategorized

Our monthly Garden Diary update with Head Gardener Craig.

Springtime has well and truly begun at Teasses, with lots of daffodils now visible all around the garden. Interestingly, Spring can actually start at different times, depending on who you ask! Looking at the astronomical calendar for example, the first day of spring is 20 March. The Phenological method records dates of reoccurring natural phenomena, such as flowering; for meteorologists, spring starts on 1 March and runs until 31 May. We are definitely loving Spring at Teasses and all of the colours it bring to the garden after the cold and snowy winter we experienced this year!

With restrictions in Scotland slowly lifting we are very excited to announce our Garden will be re-opening for visits from 5th May 2021. Our Garden will be open on Wednesdays 10am-4pm until the end of October. From this year you can also pre-book Garden tickets up to 1 month in advance via our new ticketing partner Candide.

See you all again very soon!
