A completely self taught baker, Sheila and her family moved to St Andrews from America during the Pandemic. Baking has only been a recent vocation of hers, as in a previous life she was a corporate lawyer in New York City. Sheila started small, with bake sales from the front porch of her Connecticut home and birthday cakes for her children; before deciding one day to follow her dreams.. and so Whoopie Bakes was born!
The namesake of the business is Sheila’s signature – the Whoopie Pie! An American classic, it consists of a (very!) generous helping of homemade marshmallow fluff, sandwiched between two chocolate cake-like cookies.. and it is just as delicious as it sounds. However, after moving to Fife, our fantastic local produce has quickly become front and centre of the Whoopie menu. From homemade jam using rhubarb from Sheila’s garden, to strawberry Panna Cotta tartes using the best Friarton Farms strawberries – everything is freshly made by Sheila each week.
Whoopie Bakes also serves a range of savory treats too! From delicious homemade soup, to yummy quiches prepared each morning – there is something for everyone to try at Whoopie! And don’t worry – they do takeaway too!
