April at Teasses

By Events, Garden, Teasses Estate

Can you believe tomorrow is April 1st?

We have had the most crazy weather up here in the last couple of days – after a wonderfully mild and sunny spell last week, this week saw the return of snow, hail and other wintery showers. The longer days and the plentiful daffodils on the ground, do however signal that Spring is starting to appear in our Gardens and we are very much looking forward to a busy season ahead with garden openings, workshops and event at Teasses.

April starts us off with our weekend opening on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd (10:00-16:00). Sunday is a particular special opening as we will open the garden with Scotland’s Gardens Scheme and our admission income will be donated to charity (50% via SGS to their supported charities and 50% to British Red Cross – Ukraine Crisis Appeal). So it is a great cause to come out and your tickets purchases will make a difference. If you are visiting us on Sunday we will also have a small Artists’ Market in the Walled Garden, so do come out and support your local craft-makers and small businesses. You can pre-book your tickets for both Saturday and Sunday here.

Another exciting appointment in the Garden will be our ‘Easter at Teasses’ event, which will take place on Easter Sunday, April 17th (10:00-16:00). Tickets for this event are already available via our ticketing partner Candide (book here) and we have lots of fun activities planned, as this is a family friendly event.

Our gardens will continue to be open on Wednesday (10:00-16:00) throughout April and don’t forget Garden Memberships are available for £18.50 here.

We are also very excited about our new Tea Room in the Walled Garden (Greenhouses) run by the lovely James. The Tea Room is open during every garden opening, so don’t forget to grab a cuppa and a slice of cake after your jaunt through the gardens (or before!).

We look forward to seeing you at Teasses this April!

Thank you!

A message from our Head Gardener at the end of the Garden Opening Season.
Thank you very much to everyone who has supported us this year by visiting the gardens, purchasing produce, attending our workshops and coming to our seasonal events.
We have our Christmas Market coming up on Sat 4th December and we hope to see you there!
The Gardens will re-open again in 2022 for another fantastic season together.

The Walled Garden – Venue Open

By Events, Teasses Estate, Weddings

With July now in full swing and our Summer Open Day under our belt, we can now fully focus on getting the Walled Garden ready for our Venue Open Weekend at the end of the month.

We know things have been tough for many couples out there trying to plan (and re-plan!) their wedding and we think we have a lovely space to offer  with availability for 2022.

Pop along at our Open Venue Weekend on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of July (11:00-16:00) – see the space, ask questions, check availability and speak to some lovely local suppliers.

And if a wedding isn’t what you are planning, our Walled Garden offers plenty of flexibility and space options to host functions, dinners and other events and celebrations.

We can’t wait to be able to share the space with you and to help you create your next event at Teasses!

Re-opening of the Gardens at Teasses

By Garden, Teasses Estate, Visits

Our Gardens have re-opened at the weekend and a what fitting way to celebrate #NationalGardeningWeek!

We have really missed having visitors and it has been a tough, long winter for all of us – it was lovely to see all of you who made it out at the weekend and we look forward to seeing many more of you in the months ahead. Our Gardens will be open 10am to 4pm, on Wednesdays and the first full weekend of every month.

Our new partnership with our friends at Candide Gardening means you can now also purchase e-tickets online, limiting the handling of cash and the issues with having to carry exact change. You can also easily upgrade your day ticket to a membership – it couldn’t be easier, thanks Candide!

When you visit our Gardens this Spring and Summer don’t forget to plan a stop at our Stables to see the newly opened Photographic Display “Teasses 25 Years”. 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the family purchasing the Estate and setting the course on their ambitious restoration project – we decided to celebrate this incredible achievement with a display of photographs, documents and memorabilia. “Teasses 25 Years” is included in your admission fee to the Gardens – we just love sharing Teasses’ story with you!

Next weekend opening: June, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th

Buy your tickets to the Gardens here and see you all soon!

Gamekeeping minutes – At the ‘lochan’

By Sporting, Teasses Estate, Visits

Our Gamekeeping Team have been busy replenishing our ‘lochan’ with trout, to provide sporting opportunities for our fishing syndicate and occasional day rods. Our beautiful trout is sourced from Belhaven Trout Company  and has been keeping our fishermen happy year or year. In the video below you can appreciate the water clarity of our ‘lochan’ and catch a glimpse of our wonderful views and wildlife.

You will see Jordan slowly and gently releasing the trout into the ‘lochan’ to limit the shock the fish might experience when changing environment, water temperature and PH levels. This is very important at Teasses.

Kenny, our Head Gamekeeper, also brings you some footage of our resident toad population. After emerging from their overwintering sites, toads tend to return to ancestral breeding ponds along the same routes each year – they have definitely come out in large numbers this Spring.

Our fishing season at Teasses runs from February to October and the longer and sunny Spring days offer a great opportunity to head out on the ‘lochan’. For more information on our fishing syndicate and day rods, please get in touch at [email protected]. The ‘lochan’ is in view of Hall Teasses, our self-catering lodge – a perfect combination if you are looking for a sporting staycation.
